Internship with Revival City

The aim of the Revival City Summer Internship is to provide practical experience and leadership training in experiencing, enjoying, and displaying God's love and glory in a ministry context.
If you are feeling particularly drawn to the idea of ongoing ministry and what the behind-the-scenes life of serving in ministry leadership takes, this is the opportunity for you! You will get hands-on experience doing ministry, with the added benefit of experiencing what it is like building ministries from the ground-up in a church planting context. You will also receive personal training and discipleship from our Lead Pastors and other ministry leaders.
Throughout the internship, we will be pouring into your Head, Heart, and Hands.
-
Head: We will walk you through teachings on topics like "Interpreting Scripture," "The Old Testament," and how to put together a sermon/lesson/teaching.
-
Heart: Spending time in the prayer room is essential. We equip you by walking interns through a course titled "Fellowship with the Holy Spirit"
-
Hands: You will have opportunities to serve in ministries all across the church, and practice in the city what you learn regarding evangelism, street ministry, and practicing spiritual gifts.
DATES:
May 18 - July 26, 2025
WORKING HOURS:
Full Time. However, there will be random days during the weeks that you will be given off. Weekly schedules are communicated the Sunday of each week.
COST:
$3000 (This money is to be raised by the intern. The amount covers costs associated with: an international mission trip, training supplies/materials, a summer intern retreat, and other miscellaneous costs. There will be a fundraising event held in the Spring 2024 semester where interns will be able to raise additional support. Don't be intimidated by the amount you would be raising... we have never had an intern fail to raise their support! God always provides!
It is also worth noting that we would never ask you to do something we haven't done ourselves! The Lead Pastors, and other key leaders, have plenty of experience raising their own support. We will help train you in best practices for doing this!
STIPEND:
The internship also includes a small stipend to help take care of your day-to-day needs.
EXPECTATIONS:
Whereas the majority of your weekly expectations will be laid out during orientation, it is important to know that you will be expected to work a Sunday-Thursday schedule. Sundays usually end after morning services, but Thursdays include participating in either the Athens House of Prayer main sets or Revival City Youth Group. We will have random events/retreats that may include Fridays and Saturdays from time-to-time. There will also be days of the week where you will be given the day off , depending on the summer calendar. Typically, you will be given the week's schedule on the Sunday of that week. Also, the international mission trip is a requirement for all summer interns.
MINISTRY AREAS:
Whereas some churches may have an intern designated to work in only one area of ministry, each summer intern will be a "Revival City Intern." This means that you will get experience working in ALL the different areas of ministry including: Prayer + Ministry, Missions, Outreach, Coffeehouse, Children, Student, Discipleship, Preaching/Teaching, Worship, and other various ministries.

INTERNSHIP FAQ
Below are some general FAQs, but if you have a question that you cannot find the answer to, please email us at info@revivalcityathens.church

When do I have to have my support raised by?
The $3000 has to be raised by May 18, 2025. At the very least, you will have 3 months to raise this ahead of time.
I live out of town, will travel to and from my hometown be covered?
The only travel that is covered by your $3000 is any travel associated with your mission trip. If you will have a need regarding housing, please let us know in your application.

Will I be able to go on vacation during my internship?
Since the internship flies by, and much of what we pour into you builds upon previous weeks, we ask that you try to organize any vacations either before or after the internship.

Can I work at another job during my internship?
We ask that the internship be a priority. Having another job with its own set of expectations on your timing will make it difficult to get everything out of the internship that we want you to walk away with.

Can I take classes during my internship?
Again, our desire is for you to get everything you can out of this internship. We prefer you to not be pulled in multiple directions over the summer. From previous internships, work and/or school on top of an internship turned out to be exhausting.

I don't live in Athens, where will I stay during the internship?
Host homes may be a possibility for you to stay at if you are in need of a place to stay during your internship. Having personal transportation would be ideal during your time here, but it is not a deal-breaker. Again, let us know in advance if you will need housing assistance.

Where will the Mission Trip be to?
Previous internships have traveled to Jamaica, Israel-Palestine, India, and Central America. We are currently in the process of expanding our overseas ministry partnerships. The trip details are decided no later than April, but require flexibility and patience, but we can guarantee you that it will be an experience you will love and remember forever! Make sure you have a passport that is up to date!
